Wand can't connect after SDK 15 update



  • Hey,
    After moving to the new sdk 15, the wand started having connection troubles. It constantly connected and disconnected. It also indicated that it needed a firmware update but the button did nothing. After some trail and error the wand refused to do anything (the light was blinking red for several hours). I left it alone the whole night and this morning the light was red constantly and it has been like this ever since. Also removing the batteries doesn't change something.

    I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the previous sdk. Is there a way to hard reset the controller? Have you come across something like this in the past?

  • A few more diagnostic questions:

    • list itemOne more quick check, are your batteries fresh? We also have a known bug when the batteries are low the LED indicator is solid red as you're describing.
    • Is this happening for both wands your team has?
    • Does your wand work with Rev14.1? (if you uninstall Rev15.0)

  • It did have a small issues. I noticed that the wand sometimes connected twice to the same Glasses (I saw 2 wands listed, but I only have one), mostly when the glasses were running/connected for a while. If the wand connected twice it stopped working. But reconnecting the glasses' usb fixed this. I don't know if this is related to the current issue.

    I already tried the hard reset, but the wand doesn't respond in any way. It's light indicator just stays red.



  • @CyberWally Oh man that's no fun. We haven't seen this behavior yet for wands connecting after Rev15.0 update.

    A few quick details to verify:

    1. Did your wand exhibit any connection problems before updating to SDK 15.0?
    2. Did you already try the troubleshooting flow for "Solid red for 5s, then off"? This step mentions how to hard reset your wand:
    • Ensure that your wand is off (glasses are connected and you haven't tried to turn on wand yet)
    • Hold down X + B buttons
    • Hold down SYS (half moon button beneath 1&2 buttons)
    • Wait until the status LED turns red
    • Release SYS button
    • Release X + B button

    Thank you for the response.
    I already tried the re-pair tool and unfortunately it doesn't work. The light on the wand is constantly red (for the last 2 days, no blinking), so it also doesn't correspond with the scenarios listed in the tool. The Sys button doesn't work. I think my controller is in limbo somewhere between connecting and updating.

  • Hey Senne! That's frustrating, let's see if we can get you unblocked.

    Have you tried running the Wand Re-pair tool? Just in case, open the Tilt Five Control Panel > Select your glasses > Select the Wand tab > Select the orange circle with the + button, this will walk you through a wand reset/repair flow that should hopefully help.
